Recently I have spoken to some businesses (and dare I say prospective clients) who tell me that they know they should have great video content on their website but do not necessarily understand why.
Video on the web and mobile devices is a huge growth area and there are a number of reasons for this. Online video has grown exponentially over recent years, with 78% of people watching online videos at least once a week, and 55% of people watching online video every day. Over one billion unique users visit YouTube every month and online video now accounts for around 50% of all mobile traffic. Indeed, one third of all online activity is now spent watching video.
Video is now also key to search engine ranking, with opportunity for a page one place on Google increasing 53 times when a website has video content. It is also believed that on average a visitor will stay two minutes longer on a website with video content – though I suspect that this depends on the video being interesting and engaging.
It is understood that website visitors only retain about 10% of information obtained from written text, a figure which rises to around 95% when a message is delivered via video content. Dr. James McQuivey of Forrester Research claims that one minute of video is equivalent to 1.8 million words.
With so much video content out there, it is more important than ever that your business has video of the highest quality. Fortunately, as experts in the field, that’s where we come in. Watch our short animation above to find out more.
